Post-pandemic. Doesn’t that sound lovely? It’s been a heck of a few years. Enterprises are emerging with a palpable need for innovation and value at a pace driven by the increased recognition that digital is table stakes, “experiences” must contemplate customers as well as employees and partners (OneOffice™), and the best bet for new sources of value comes from the synergy of collaboration-driven ecosystems (OneEcosystem™).
Macroeconomic headwinds await. The joy of busting out of the pandemic chrysalis is offset by the melee of macroeconomic conditions transpiring to slow down even the most inspired of shape-shifting enterprises high on three years of rapid change. HFS’ latest Pulse data showcases the modern warfare of cybersecurity, the good old kitchen table issue of inflation, and every industry’s kick in the teeth at rapid progress—supply chain disruption—as the top three factors adversely impacting enterprise goals.
We must align priorities and progress. Part of the enterprise challenge to combat the headwinds and progress from the here and now of functional digital optimization is the gap between leadership priorities and actual investments in initiatives. While our latest Pulse data shows a reassuring consistency between leadership priorities in digital modernization and investment, areas such as ESG rated high as a priority but low for investment. The reverse is true of talent concerns, which rated at the bottom of the priorities list but fared much better in actual investment.
Align around your value horizon. For 2023, we’ve designed our research agenda around helping enterprises best align their strategies and investments with forward-looking innovation and value in the form of three distinct value horizons. Welcome to HFS Horizons!
