Understanding trends and shifts in IT markets requires more than anecdotal evidence. Well-designed, -focused, and -executed telephone surveys are a prime vehicle for conveying what’s going on in general and in a specific market.
The HfS Research Global IT Trends Survey concludes that in Business Intelligence (BI) and big data, real-time analysis is the hottest spending trend for 2013, followed by mobile BI and BI in the cloud and for Software as a Service (SaaS) deployments.
In-memory computing, driven by vendors such as SAP with its HANA implementation, is also having a big impact on BI and big data in 2013. Finally, although our survey shows that enterprises are now starting to get serious about their big data strategy, large-scale rollouts are still rare. Long-term, in BI and big data, companies are going to invest in real-time decision tools, unified access to data from all devices as well as BI and big data integration.
