Understanding trends and shifts in IT markets requires more than anecdotal evidence. Well-designed, focused, and properly executed telephone surveys are a prime vehicle to get an idea about what’s going on in a specific market.
The HfS Research Global IT Trends Survey concludes that (a) cloud computing has crossed the chasm and is now on top of IT managers’ agendas; (b) cloud use for testing and backup is the number one investment area in 2013, followed by implementing private clouds; and (c) long-term, buyers are looking for solutions that integrate the private, public, and hybrid cloud environments.
The underlying reason for the rapidly growing importance of cloud use is buyers’ strong belief that using cloud computing will dramatically slash IT costs.
