In our recent POV, Analytics Services Trends Indicate Growing Maturity in 2015, HfS observed that the analytics services market is starting to mature beyond the discrete projects and low-value work of the past few years. The Health Catalyst-Allina relationship is an example of this emergence of “as-a-service”.
The Health Catalyst tools can combine clinical, financial, and operational data from electronic health records for running the types of queries that are becoming more critical in this healthcare market that’s increasingly focused on identifying and preventing costly healthcare episodes and increasing the quality of care. This deal is not about delivering technology tools and walking out the door; it’s about ensuring that the technology tools are continuously applied with new models relevant to addressing gaps in care in targeted populations.
The engagement is focused on business outcomes; is tied to joint results driven by joint planning; brings together repeatable, scaleable business processes supported by IT; and joins subject matter and IT experts. These mature analytics engagements are now following on the early efforts we’ve seen in the market to take risks beyond pilots, experiments, and early investments in technology and skills.
