Developing a Plan for Metrics-Based Code Reuse in SW Product Engineering

​Reuse of components is a mature concept in the manufacturing industry for a long time. High degree of reuse not only reduces wastages but also diminishes the cost of production and reduce time-to-market. At present, this concept has also been adopted by engineering service providers for part of software product development process.Though in many cases the engineering service providers claim to be using code reuse components for client engagements, often software product engineering buyers don’t have visibility into code reuse by service providers and are not sure whether they are getting the benefit of it. This PoV focuses on the metrics-based approach that buy-side customers can use to drivecode reuse in their engagements with engineering service providers.​
