Infosys recently announced a partnership with software autonomics vendor IPsoft, maker of a product that helps automate the IT services management (ITSM) function with the help of artificial intelligence. Infosys expects that enhancing its IT infrastructure management staff with IPsoft’s “virtual engineers” will significantly improve the scale, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of its huge IT services business and the related businesses like BPO that rely on it. The announcement affirms HfS Research’s recent predictions about the growing importance of emerging software automation technology for both buyers and providers of global business services, particularly in how it supports buyers’ desire for providers to focus more on helping them achieve business innovation and less on simply reducing their labor costs.
