Sourcing Interests Group (SIG) held its inaugural meeting in London with a one day event focused on the issues relevant to sourcing and procurement professionals in the UK and Europe. Although the meeting was an intimate affair the conversations were insightful as attendees debated the changing role of sourcing and discussed key topics of interest. These were governance and risk, benchmarking and surprisingly, sustainability. This HfS RAPIDInsight is for those who couldn’t attend.
We outline how the focus on risk has exploded over the last three years and look at the calls for new skills that many sourcing teams are trying to find; we review the discussion of benchmarking is a necessary evil; and finally, we look at the discussion about the return of sustainability metrics that underpin value based sourcing and procurement strategies.
