Our research shows that the Robotic Process Automation (RPA) client experience is bi-polar – around 60% the RPA adopters were satisfied, but RPA did not meet or barely met the expectations for the rest.
In this PoV, we drill down to understand the characteristics of the satisfied clients. There are four distinguishing characteristics of highly successful RPA initiatives
1. A robust automation strategy is required to be successful.
2. Centralized RPA CoEs improve the chances of success.
3. RPA should be used for automating structured data rather than unstructured data.
4. The probability of success is higher with a RPA champion within the IT function.
Also interesting to note is that there is very little correlation between which particular RPA sourcing model is used, whether third-party or internal, and whether or not an RPA implementation is successful.
