Last month self-styled “people management solution” provider Ultimate Software announced its UltiPro Fall 2013 software as a service (SaaS) release, with enhancements in global capabilities, including new languages and third-party payroll integration, as well as usability improvements for end users and administrators alike. At the same time, the Weston, Florida-based company announced the debut of UltiPro Managed Services, following the acquisition of substantially all of the assets, including the 65 employees, of its seven-year partner Accel HR. While some SaaS companies have explicitly drawn the line at account relationship managers and technical support service people, Ultimate is overtly committing to higher level of engagement in its customers’ success with the launch of its Managed Services business. This is a step in the right direction for Ultimate as well as the industry as a whole.
