Waterfall continues to drown Agile aspirations in DevOps

Home » Research & Insights » Waterfall continues to drown Agile aspirations in DevOps

  • Global 2000 firms still are heavily investing in Waterfall DevSecOp methodologies to design, develop, and deliver software for their firms.
  • Forty-four percent (44%) of Global 2000 enterprises responded that they continue to follow Waterfall software development methodologies in developing large or complex applications and migrating legacy applications to the cloud.
  • Thirty percent (30%) of Global 2000 enterprises admit to using a blended Waterfall and Agile approach for application development. Mixing methodologies can provide a managed, phased approach to development, but it seldom speeds the development of solutions at the pace businesses prefer.
The Bottom Line: HFS’s Pulse survey shows a vast majority of firms continue to use Waterfall methodologies, or a combination of Waterfall and Agile, for their software development efforts.

With tools like low-code and the adoption of micro-services, DevSecOps teams should focus on developing for cloud-native and finding more effective ways to co-innovate with the business.
