The increasing prevalence of chronic conditions and the frequency of diseases, administrative burdens, and changing demographics continue to make coverage and delivery of healthcare more expensive and complex. Health equity and access to care challenges as clinician shortages mount are exacerbating the traditional challenges matrix.

While technology won’t and should not be the solution to all that ails our healthcare, it can certainly help alleviate challenges materially. We have seen the Cloud making infrastructure less expensive (generally) and faster (SaaS), data being optimized to drive critical insights, and more recently AI and GenAI are taking drug discovery, diagnostics, administrative processes, and more to the next level of safety, security, and speed.

We are seeing the application of emerging technologies play a part as the ecosystem begins to reconfigure – so during this HFS roundtable we will discuss the following topics that are aligned with the findings of our latest research:

  • Vertical integration: We have seen more vertical integration (payers acquiring providers, pharmacy acquiring payers, etc.) in the last 5 years compared to the last 50 years. How will it help address the many challenges we face across the triple aim of care (cost, experiences, and health outcomes)?
  • Payer-provider friction: While payers and providers want to work with each other and address the needs of health consumers so that it is less expensive, less administratively burdensome, and improves health outcomes they continue to be challenged by the various legacy processes. Can tech smooth things out?
  • GenAI: The early GenAI narrative is filled with hype and buzz. However, as we peel that layer of noise, GenAI has the potential to address legacy challenges and transform how health and care are addressed across multiple generations in a very effective manner. What are the strategies that we must explore to optimize and realize the potential of GenAI?
