The confluence of macroeconomic circumstances and exciting innovation potential is driving change with a side of caution for Banking and Financial Services (BFS) firms. Increasingly, these firms are recognizing that the difference between surviving, thriving, or leading their respective markets comes down to the rapid impact that they can make with innovation in the near-term future.

New research from HFS, in partnership with Infosys, reveals that BFS enterprises have massive aspirations for what they want (and need) to achieve with innovation over the next two years. Their trajectory moves rapidly across three innovation horizons:

  • Horizon 1: Functional digital optimization – the current state – required to survive.
  • Horizon 2: End-to-end enterprise modernization – the required state – necessary to thrive.
  • Horizon 3: New value creation through ecosystems – the future state – the opportunity to lead.

We surveyed 450 BFS leaders across Global 2000 with a focus on innovation and ecosystems in critical BFS sub-sectors of payments, commercial banking, and wealth and asset management. The results indicate that ecosystems have emerged as the new hope for driving growth and creating new forms of value.

This HFS roundtable offers an exclusive opportunity for BFS enterprises to get inside the study findings in a confidential, facilitated learning forum. Participants will be a mix of BFS leaders from IT and business domains, as well as line of business heads from payments, commercial banking, and asset and wealth management (AWM). The discussion will explore the following topics:

    • What’s the innovation outlook for financial services firms given the varied macroeconomic circumstances?
    • Why are ecosystems so important and how can BFS firms activate their value?
    • How are partnerships changing in BFS enterprises, and what difference can they make for post-pandemic success?
